Furniture Today Features Martin Furniture’s Warehouse Program – “No MOQ’s!” states Dee Maas, VP of Sales
Martin touts no MOQs, new dining and home office at Market

HIGH POINT – Martin Furniture ventured further into the dining at High Point Market with four new collections, as well as additions in its primary category, home office.
But perhaps most notable was the company’s Vietnam warehouse program, which offers retailers the ability to mix-and-match containers with every item made in Vietnam. That includes all wood dining, office, media, library walls and fireplaces. The only items not made in Vietnam are the company’s laminate product that comes from Malaysia.
“Everything made in Vietnam can be mixed at no MOQs,” said Dee Maas, vice president of sales. “Around 300 items are now included in the program.”
Last October, Martin, traditionally an entertainment and office supplier, got into the dining category with 16 mid-to-upper-end collections. It also expanded its showroom by 5,000 square feet to better show off the new category. This time, its focus was more spread out across categories, with four new dining and five new home offices lines. Two of the new lines included both dining and home office.
Trends for both dining and entertainment included curved edges, roundness, darker finishes, natural materials, and imperfections in the wood. Oak is strong, as are small design elements.
Like its competitor Legends Home, Martin also cited strong interest in its electric fireplace consoles, a category the company also entered last fall. They’re finally coming into stock over the next 30-60 days.
“People like the ambience,” said Maas. “People like to avoid gas while still getting heat.”
Pat Hayes, vice president of product development, described the recent High Point Market as “hit and miss.”
“Some people write orders here, but many go back and convene about what they saw,” he said. “In home office for example, retailers only have so many slots devoted to the category on their floors. They might have to get rid of something to make room. In that sense, the categories themselves are competing against each other for floor space.”
When asked if the company would continue to enter new categories, Hayes said there are no definite plans. If a new category were to be added however, Hayes said occasional would make the most sense
